Garmin Etrex Vista and MapSource version 4.06

These are errors I've discovered while using the Etrex
Vista and MapSource
Etrex Vista (firmware version 2.24)
- On a Dell Inspiron 5000e, if I adjust the light level
of the laptop while downloading data from the GPS, I cause a fatal character
buffer overrun.
- Many GPS Markers that are in MapSource, when uploaded
as waypoints to the Etrex Vista, are converted to the generic waypoint marker.
(Examples: mile marker, circle with cross)
- There should be a way to skip over a waypoint in a
route while navigating.
- Beside "nearest" and "by name" options to view
waypoints, there should be a "in order entered into GPS" option.
- It's difficult to scroll the menu list selection of
waypoint icons, there should be some hierarchy to them, or place the
more recently-used icons at the top of the list.
MapSource (version 4.06) [US and World Topos]
- I have a map called "foo" open. It has
waypoints and routes. I upload track data from my GPS to mapsource.
It completes, and I click, 'Ok.' The track data shows up, but inside
a new map, "Untitled", and all the other data (waypoints and routes) is gone,
and so is map "foo"!
- When you create a new route, and set the name of the
route, as soon as you insert the first waypoint, it resets the name of the
route to "Empty." You must rename the route again. Then it sticks.
- There should be a right-click option to push a
waypoint onto a route
- When using MapSource on a laptop, and the GPS
connected, after you return from hibernation mode, MapSource throws a
communication error and must be restarted.
- Once I select "Start Tracking" in the GPS tab inside
MapSource, I no longer can upload/download data to my GPS, even after I "Stop
Tracking". The two icons are grayed out.
- When I open mapsource, it doesn't suggest I use the
last map I worked on. Consequently I often do a bunch of work, only to find
that it has been written to a blank map.
